Store hidden fields and UTM parameters from the quiz link

Hidden fields let a link carry something you already know. Add a hidden field named website, share /to/you/your-quiz?website=acme.com, and every response that comes in through that link is stored with website = acme.com. Respondents never see it. Free on every plan.

  1. 1

Open the quiz in the editor and find "Hidden fields". Type a name such as website and press Add. Names use lowercase letters, numbers and underscores and start with a letter, and a quiz can have up to 20. embed, j and resume are taken by FluoTest links.

  2. 2

Add the names to your link as parameters: https://fluotest.com/to/you/your-quiz?website=acme.com&plan=pro. The card shows an example link you can copy. Only the names you added are read; anything else in the link is ignored.

  3. 3

Turn on "Capture UTM parameters" to also store utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content from ad and newsletter links. Names match whatever their case, so ?UTM_Source=LinkedIn counts as utm_source.

  4. 4

Values are kept for the whole visit: if the respondent reloads the page or comes back through a "continue where you left off" link, they are still sent with the response. Each value is trimmed, cleaned of control characters and cut at 500 characters.

  5. 5

Embedded quizzes read the values from their own link and, with the embed scripts (embed-resize.js for inline embeds, embed-widget.js for popups and slide-ins), from the address of the page they sit on. The quiz's own link wins when both have a value.

  6. 6

You find the values in the submission view, in the new-response email, in CSV exports (a "Hidden: name" column for each) and in webhooks as hidden_fields. Google Sheets puts them in a last "Hidden fields" column. To give each one its own column, or to send them to Airtable, Notion, HubSpot, Brevo or Mailchimp, pick them under "Hidden fields" in the integration's field mapping.

  7. 7

Use @hidden.website (with your field's name) in the results email, in outcome messages and in redirect or button links, for example https://cal.com/you?website=@hidden.website. In links the value is URL-encoded. A name that wasn't in the link becomes empty.

  8. 8

Anonymous quizzes never store hidden fields, because a value in a link can identify a person. Hidden fields from a Typeform come along when you import the form.
