Collect anonymous responses (GDPR anonymous mode)

Anonymous mode is for surveys and quizzes where people answer more honestly when nobody can tell who they are, such as employee pulse checks or eNPS. It is free on every plan. When it is on, FluoTest stores the answers and the score, and nothing that identifies the respondent.

  1. 1

Open the quiz, go to the "Publish" tab and find "Anonymous mode (GDPR)" under "Access & sharing". Turn it on and save.

  2. 2

Respondents now see a short note at the bottom of the quiz saying their responses are anonymous. To change the wording, edit "Anonymous Mode Notice" under Experience → Advanced → Advanced Texts → Email Form.

  3. 3

No contact details are stored: no name, email, phone number, company or marketing consent. Answers to Name, Email and Phone questions are dropped on our server before the response is saved, so the editor warns you if the quiz still has any of them. Remove them so you don't ask for data you won't keep.

  4. 4

Results that would normally ask for an email or phone number skip that step, and the results email, the result video's "email me" form and the reminder email for unfinished quizzes are not sent. Anonymous responses never show up in Contacts.

  5. 5

Unfinished quizzes are saved only as which questions were answered, never what was answered, so your drop-off chart keeps working. Respondents who close the page start again from the beginning.

  6. 6

Integrations (webhooks, Brevo, Google Sheets, Slack, HubSpot and the others) are paused for the quiz while anonymous mode is on, and Business lead routing and hot-lead alerts skip it. Meta Pixel and Google Tag Manager are not loaded, so no cookie banner is needed.

  7. 7

FluoTest never stores a respondent's IP address, device, browser or location with a response, in any mode. In anonymous mode the short-lived counter we use to stop spam is keyed by a one-way hash of the IP instead of the address itself.

  8. 8

Your own notification email about each new response still arrives, without contact details. Free-text answers are stored as typed, so avoid questions that invite people to identify themselves.

  9. 9

Turning anonymous mode off later only affects new responses. Responses collected while it was on stay anonymous.
